Area of Relevant Ecological Interest
Printer-friendly versionThe Area of Relevant Ecological Interest is an area generally of small extension, with little or no human occupation, with extraordinary natural characteristics or that shelters rare examples of the regional biota, and has as its objective maintaining the natural ecosystems of local or regional importance and regulating the admissible use of these areas, in such a way as to make them compatible with the objectives of nature conservation. The Area of Relevant Ecological Interest is constituted by public or private lands1. Area of Relevant Ecological Interest, as well as the Ecological Stations, had a law scope before the SNUC2.
